Safety shoes

It used to be rare for women to have jobs that require safety shoes. When women first entered these jobs, it was believed they could just wear men’s safety shoes in smaller sizes.

However, female feet are proportioned differently than men’s. Men’s safety shoes, therefore, make for a poor fit.

Not nice, when carrying blocks of concrete on rough terrains. But also: a reminder that women are not just smaller versions of men.
